Material logistics with more flexibility

Our LOXrail rail system is not only suitable for production lines in plant and mechanical engineering or the precision feeding of workpieces to welding cells and cutting systems. It has also proven itself in warehouse logistics for the efficient material handling of loads weighing tons.

Hall crossing for pipe packs

We have installed a new LOXrail system for load capacities of up to 15 tons at the factory of our parent company, the Bielefeld-based mechanical engineering and material supplier DRECKSHAGE. The transport system was put into operation after only four days of installation. The rail-based system for moving pipe packs and other heavyweight materials by hand, makes transport between the halls 2 and 3 much easier and more efficient. In addition, the new LOXrail line facilitates material supply from hall 3 to the steel band saws in hall 2, where profiles for linear technology are cut to size.

Project highlights:

  • LOXrail40 for load capacities up to 60 tons
  • Floor-level, barrier-free rail installation
  • Customized trolleys with locking bolts

Michael Schmolke, Head of Warehouse at DRECKSHAGE: “Before, we put the material on hand carts, which are difficult to push. There was a perpetual risk of tipping over when we fully loaded the carts. Loads that were too heavy or too large for hand carts, we transported from one hall to another by truck.”

Heavy-duty rails laid flush with the floor

We installed a 30 meters long line with heavy-duty LOXrail steel shafts with a diameter of 40 mm. These profiles are designed for large load ranges of up to 60 tons. The floor-level installation means that the surrounding area remains freely accessible. We designed trolleys for transporting the material according to our own specifications – with low-friction wheelsets that allow manual pushing of loads up to 15 tons without auxiliary power. There are handles at the head of the trolleys for safe, ergonomic handling. The trolleys can be fixed in position with locking bolts in the floor to ensure safe loading and unloading.

The user concludes:

“The new system makes our entire material flow more flexible. In the past, when we picked goods for shipping in hall 3, we could not unload incoming material during this time without blocking the conveyor belt for goods picking. Today, we simply unload the material in hall 2 and drive it to the high rack in hall 3 with LOXrail transport trolleys. This allows us to react quickly to a wide variety of situations and ensure the best possible process for on-time delivery to our customers.”
